Development Director

Reports to the Executive Director

HOURS:

·      Full Time

 

Salary:

·      $60,000- $70,000 Based on experience

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The ideal candidate will have past experience working in fundraising. They will have demonstrated experience securing major gifts, planning stewardship events, participating in the creation of a revenue strategy, and planning and executing a gala. They have a passion for fundraising as storytelling, have an eye for creating engaging special events for donors and patrons, will be knowledgeable and passionate about the arts and those who support it with a belief in the ability of art to strengthen communities, is a natural communicator with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills and is a strong collaborator. The position is envisioned as evolving with the organization. The ideal candidate has strong strategic and leadership skills and will be able to envision how the position and department might grow with the company. They have a polished, outgoing personality, is at ease networking, attending events, and being involved in a thriving cultural community.

 

Working with the Executive Director and Board, this position performs the Development functions for the organization and is responsible for the donor database, fundraising events, and building enthusiastic, supportive relationships with donors, alumni, sponsors and patrons. Working collaboratively with WTP colleagues and the Board of Directors, the Development Director reports to the Executive Director.

 

The Development Director will make connections and be a key link with the WTP community, the Wellesley community and surrounding towns, Town Boards and offices, the theatre community and they will work to strengthen those connections.

 

They will plan and execute a strategic fundraising program that encompasses annual giving, major gifts, foundation and government grants, corporate sponsorships, special events and blended campaigns.

 

Together with the Executive Director the Development Director will help guide and support the Board’s Development Committee, and will collaborate closely with the staff on an integrated communication strategy to supporters as wellas donor events that surround productions.

 

In addition to the duties listed below, Wellesley Theatre Project expects the following of each employee: adheres to policies and procedures; works to create a positive learning environment for the students; be a role model of professional theatre etiquette; works in a safe manner; performs duties as workload necessitates; maintains a positive and respectful attitude; communicates regularly with supervisor about department issues; demonstrates efficient time management and prioritizes workload; demonstrates regular and consistent attendance and punctuality; participates in Wellesley Theatre Project events as needed or required; and completes other duties as assigned.

 

Job Qualifications:

A successful candidate for this position will have:

  • Ability to work with the Executive Director and Development Committee to build a comprehensive development plan with measurable goals and outcomes, consistent with the WTP’s mission and fiscal needs.

  • The ability to work independently: to create a schedule, and then initiate and complete projects according to that schedule

  • An entrepreneurial, energetic person who enjoys discovery work in an organization

  • Volunteer management skills: A collaborative person who can work closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors, to keep moving forward towards goals

  • The ability to reach out to and strengthen relationships with donors, the WTP community, the Wellesley community, public schools, etc

  • The ability to identify and develop viable donors, sponsors and grant-makers, in-kind supporters and partners

  • Ability to work in the Donor Perfect, Tix.com, and Greater Giving systems to organize and update records to support development activities, including the tracking of donor communications and meetings to ensure institutional memory of donor relationships; provide continued accurate maintenance. Utilize the system to maximize its capabilities.

  • Superlative communication skills

  • Experience identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donors

  • Creativity for marketing and social media related to fundraising

  • Update and write donor acknowledgements, cultivation and recognition materials.

  • The ability to collaborate in the preparation of organizational-wide budgets.

  • Develop Organizational marketing materials that tell WTP’s story online, in newsletters, and “take-away” materials

  • Help with the planning and executing of giving programs for unrestricted contributions including WTP’s Annual Teal Tie Affair.

  • The ability to identify grant-making opportunities - Foundations and Trusts (public and private); Write grants in support of WTP’s mission.

  • Serve as the lead person for future capital campaigns

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Minimum of three to five years of experience in nonprofit development and fundraising

  • Commitment to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA)

  • Proven success at meeting and exceeding revenue goals

  • Demonstrated success in planning, implementing, and executing major revenue generating campaigns

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills

  • Marketing and case development experience, excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent customer/donor service skills and demonstrated ability to build relationships

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Computer proficiency and working knowledge of constituent relationship management systems and wealth screening databases

  • A spirit of curiosity and tenacity to “get the job done” often with limited resources

  • The appropriate candidate will be diligent, tireless, passionate about the cause, and able to build and articulate a compelling case for support to a diverse group of donors and prospects.

 

An individual with transferable skills will be considered with evidence of the ability to successfully achieve goals and manage multiple projects

Studio Greeter 

Reports to the Executive Director

HOURS:

·      Part Time

 

Hourly:

·      $15-$20 Based on experience

 

Wellesley Theatre Project is a nonprofit arts academy that provides exceptional educational programming, empowering students to be citizen artists. We have after school programming which includes weekly classes, private lessons, and full production rehearsals. Our students range from pre-k through 12th grade. We are seeking a part time studio greeter to join our team!

 

Job Description: 

We are seeking an energetic and friendly studio greeter to welcome students and parents into the building! The greeter will check students into their classes at the front door and also supervise the front desk to field parent questions, handle some administrative tasks, hand out occasional bandaids, and be a friendly face to everyone who enters the building. The Studio Greeter will be in charge of opening and closing the studio on some occasions. This candidate should love working with children, be an exceptional communicator, and must be punctual. The greeter will know the room assignments for each class and know the schedule of each class in case questions come up. The hours would be Monday-Friday 3:30pm-6:30pm and Saturday's 12pm-2pm. There is potential for more hours or for these hours to be split with another candidate. 

 

Prospective candidates must have: 

  • The ability to multitask.

  • Willingness to jump in and help when asked.

  • Ability to collaborate well with others. 

  • Exceptional communication skills. 

  • Experience in the arts is a plus.
