Technical Director
Wellesley Theatre Project (WTP) seeks a passionate and experienced technical theatre
professional to serve as the leader of our scenic and prop departments as well as assist in
management of all production departments. This leader will support WTP’s mission to enrich the
community through high-quality performing arts experiences and education. This is an exciting

About Wellesley Theatre Project:
Wellesley Theatre Project is a nationally recognized nonprofit youth theatre with diverse
community engagement that empowers youth with life skills learned through exceptional
performing arts education, and then challenges them to become citizen artists -- improving the
quality of life in their local and global community by emphasizing collaboration, and cultural,
and social understanding. WTP offers tuition assistance to families with financial need and
provides year-round community programming and engagement opportunities.

Position Summary:
The Technical Director is a key role reporting to the Artistic Director. This position is responsible
for executing build and rentals of scenic and prop designs for our full production season
(between 11 and 14 productions annually). Opportunities for design as well as serving in other
key production roles are available based on candidates expertise and desire. The Tech Director
will also work with WTP’s Program Director on scheduling, teaching, and expanding technical
theater classes and/or camps as allowed by the production calendar.
The ideal candidate has strong strategic and leadership skills and will be able to envision how the
position and department might grow with the company. Ideal candidates will value collaboration
and have strong interpersonal skills. In the future, this role may include establishing and
managing WTP’s rental inventory of scenery, props, and costumes.
Responsibilities:

Lead the execution of all scenic designs for our 11-14 Main Stage and Black Box productions each season.

Manage the execution of all prop designs for all productions.

Support the design, production and technology for all productions.

The position requires general knowledge in theatre design and production (scenery, lighting, and sound design; scenic construction and painting; light hang and focus; sound engineering; and production management), with additional knowledge and/or interest in current and emerging theatre and production technology.

Ability to supervise volunteers (adult and student) in safe practices of scenic construction and technical production elements.

Classroom teaching of technical theatre concepts, skills, and practices.

Manage volunteers, and supervise and mentor production interns and future production staff.

Contribute to organizational strategy as a member of the production team.

Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
-
Minimum of three to five years of experience in theatrical production with emphasis on scenery construction.

Classroom teaching experience in theatre focused disciplines.

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
-
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
-
Passion for the arts and commitment to WTP’s mission.

Computer proficiency and working knowledge of Google Workspace.

Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Vectorworks preferred.

The ability to work independently: to create a schedule, and then initiate and complete projects according to that schedule.

Bachelor's degree preferred.
Compensation and Benefits:
-
Salary range: $55,000 - $65,000 commensurate with experience.

Vacation and Personal Emergency Time Off: 2 weeks compensated vacation time and paid WTP designated holidays, as set forth by the Executive Director.

Studio Greeter
Wellesley Theatre Project is a nonprofit arts academy that provides exceptional educational programming, empowering students to be citizen artists. We have after school programming which includes weekly classes, private lessons, and full production rehearsals. Our students range from pre-k through 12th grade. We are seeking a part time studio greeter to join our team!
Job Description:
We are seeking an energetic and friendly studio greeter to welcome students and parents into the building! The greeter will check students into their classes at the front door and also supervise the front desk to field parent questions, handle some administrative tasks, hand out occasional bandaids, and be a friendly face to everyone who enters the building. The Studio Greeter will be in charge of opening and closing the studio on some occasions. This candidate should love working with children, be an exceptional communicator, and must be punctual. The greeter will know the room assignments for each class and know the schedule of each class in case questions come up. The hours would be Monday-Friday 3:30pm-6:30pm and Saturday's 12pm-2pm. There is potential for more hours or for these hours to be split with another candidate.
