Below are our Winter & Spring Class offerings. With the exception of our audition-only programs, space for classes is allocated on a first come, first served basis. For our audition-only programs, registration fees will be charged once students are selected for the program.

Theatre Arts Classes

From preschool through high school, we offer a wide range of programs for both beginners and experienced stage performers - including classes in acting/drama, musical dance theatre, and voice. Students who are interested in pursuing a WTP Production Class are strongly encouraged to enroll in a WTP Acting Class if they have not already done so.

Every week a new story comes to life through creative drama, movement activities, and arts and crafts. Students will engage in an interactive exploration of storytelling from classic and current children’s literature.  The final day of class will culminate in a "shareformance" for friends and family.

A new adventure begins each week as actors discover treasures in a trunk and bring characters to life through creative drama and movement. Students will learn how to work together as a group and create original stories through making crafts, working with different props, and playing theatre games. This class will culminate in a “shareformance” at the end of 8 weeks for friends and family.

This class will focus on introducing musical theatre dance techniques through creative prompts, and using character driven movement to show how dance can be used to tell a story. Students will gain flexibility, expand their dance and theatre vocabulary, and learn fun dance combinations! This class will culminate in a “shareformance” at the end of 8 weeks for friends and family. Students are welcome to wear any clothes they are comfortable dancing in, except no jeans or skirts please. Sneakers or ballet shoes are perfect for this class.

This class will introduce theatrical concepts to our newest actors, and build creative skills for our returning ones. Students will use their curiosity to create stories and characters through games, storytelling, and crafts. This class will culminate in a “shareformance” at the end of 8 weeks for friends and family. This is a perfect class to take before or simultaneously with an enrollment show. It will provide the building blocks needed to be a successful actor at WTP and beyond.

Group Voice

2ND THROUGH 4TH GRADE

8 WEEKS

Learn and sing songs from iconic Disney movies! Students will work with a voice teacher in a group setting to learn healthy singing techniques, introduce concepts of harmony and music theory, and provide opportunities for solo and group singing. Students work will culminate in a “shareformance” at the end of 8 weeks for friends and family.

Musical Theatre Workshop

2ND THROUGH 8TH GRADE

4 WEEKS

Want to learn what makes a musical theatre number pop on stage? This class is the perfect combination of dancing, singing, and acting! Each class will include a fun physical warm up, build their singing skills, and learn choreography to a few songs from Frozen (Session I), and Moanna (Session II)! This is a fun and fast paced two hour class, great for both the first time performer, and seasoned WTP student! At the end of each four week session, students will perform in a “shareformance” for their friends and family.

Ballet! Jazz! Tap! Students in this class will be ready for any musical theatre style of dance. This class will focus on introductory ballet technique, fun jazz combinations, as well as beginner tap. Students will walk away with skills in all three genres of dance, as well as increased flexibility. This class will culminate in a “shareformance” at the end of 8 weeks for friends and family. Students will need tap shoes, and for ballet and jazz, ballet shoes or bare feet are perfect! Students should wear any clothes they are comfortable in (no skirts or jeans please).

Triple Threat

8TH THROUGH 12TH GRADE

8 WEEKS

This is the perfect class for the student who wants an edge on their next dance audition, and for students who want to improve their technical skills. Each class will begin with a ballet warm up, progress to dance conditioning and across the floor exercises, then work on a musical theatre combination. Students who have never had ballet or tap experience will learn the basics, and the intermediate dancers will be challenged with material appropriate for them. Students will walk away feeling physically stronger and confident to rock their next audition! Please bring tap shoes to every class as well as ballet shoes or sneakers. Students can wear anything they are comfortable dancing in (no skirts or jeans please). This class will culminate in a “shareformance” at the end of 8 weeks for friends and family.

Character Creation

5TH THROUGH 8TH GRADE

8 WEEKS

How do you create a bold character on stage? How do we relate to characters that are different from us? This class will explore how to make big creative choices, digging into different character types and how to use vocal and physical power to make them come alive on stage. Students will work together with scene partners to prepare for a “shareformance” at the end of 8 weeks for friends and family. This class is recommended for students to take before or simultaneously with their first enrollment show, and for those students who are looking to enhance their acting skills.

Being able to think on your feet is a valuable life skill! Students will not only learn the rules of improv, but learn how to work together creatively to create a story. Every class there will be different prompts, games, and activities, working towards a “shareformance” for friends and family at the end of 8 weeks. Improv is lots of fun and builds confidence, enhances public speaking skills, and helps students stay “in the moment” on stage.

Studio Acting II: Increasing Your Acting Range

8TH THROUGH 12TH GRADE

This class is for students who have previously taken Studio Acting I, or for those who are ready for more advanced character creation and monologue work. Expand your acting range by learning the secrets of character creation. Become the actor who can bring any character to life in scenes, monologues, and improvisation. This class will conclude with a "shareformance" to present your work to friends and family, and challenge you to create dynamic characters live on stage.

Behind the Scenes: Technical Theatre

Ever wonder what it takes to create a set or props to make a performance come to life? Learn first hand about painting, carpentry, measuring, using power tools, and how to build and design props! Students will learn skills through projects, receive individual coaching, and your work might even end up on our mainstage!

WTP is now accepting applications for interns for our 2024 winter and spring season. Interns will have the chance to apply for a job with a specific role. They will work closely with WTP’s professional teaching artists to gain “on the job” skills. Our internship roles include:

Production Classes

Production Classes

Students will explore their creativity and expand their acting, singing, and dancing skills.  From audition preparation to Opening Night, all students will learn what it takes to produce a stage show. 

Prerequisite:  Any student enrolling in a production class must have previously enrolled in a WTP production class and/or current or previous enrollment in a WTP weekly class. At the Program Director's discretion, enrollment requirements may be waived. Please feel free to contact us with any questions.

4th Graders:  4th graders must enroll in Junie B. Jones KIDS unless they have previously participated in another WTP Production. 4th graders who have participated in a WTP production may enroll in Junie B. Jones or Finding Nemo.

Join Junie B. on her first day of first grade, where many changes are in store: Junie's best friend Lucille has new best friends, and Junie B. meets Herb, the new kid at school. While in Mr. Scary's class, Junie has trouble reading the blackboard, and she may need glasses. Add in a friendly cafeteria lady, an intense kickball tournament and a "Top-Secret Personal Beeswax Journal," and first grade has never been more exciting. WTP is honored and excited to be presenting this pilot production of Junie B. Jones, The Musical KIDS for Musical Theatre International.

Join Marlin, an anxious and over-protective clownfish, lives in the Great Barrier Reef with his kid Nemo, who longs to explore the world beyond their anemone home. But when Nemo is captured and taken to Sydney, Marlin faces his fears and sets off on an epic adventure across the ocean. With the help of lovable characters such as optimistic Dory, laid-back sea turtle Crush, and the supportive Tank Gang, Marlin and Nemo both overcome challenges on their journey to find each other and themselves. WTP is excited to bring this vibrant underwater world to life on stage in a story full of family, friendship, and adventure.

After auditions students will receive a rehearsal schedule. Students will be required to attend every rehearsal, and must submit a conflict sheet at auditions. Attendance during Tech Week is mandatory.

Evan Goldman is plucked from his fast-paced, preteen New York City life and plopped into a sleepy Indiana town following his parents divorce. Surrounded by an array of simpleminded middle school students, he needs to establish his place in the popularity pecking order. Can he situate himself on a comfortable link of the food chain... or will he dangle at the end with the outcasts?!? WTP is excited to produce this audition-only production in our WTP Studio Theater!
