Camps

Below are our Summer 2022 Camp offerings. This summer WTP will require that all enrolled students either (i)be fully vaccinated and up to date on recommended vaccinations/boosters as available for Covid-19 or (ii) submit to a Covid-19 test prior to each entry at WTP at the families expense. 

Wellesley Theatre Project offers a variety of Summer Camps for all ages! Camps are divided by the age/grade your child is entering in the Fall and include one-week specialty offerings and multi-week production camps. 

Space is limited and registration is based upon the order in which applications are received.  Applications are not complete without payment in full or a deposit.  Contact us about sibling or multiple camp discounts, and need-based scholarships.

One-Week Camps

From elementary through high school, we offer a wide range of summer camps for both beginners and experienced stage performers - including classes in acting/drama, musical dance theatre, and voice. 

From Page to Stage!

4 YEARS TO 1ST GRADE

$300

9:30am to 12pm

Choose from one of five camp sessions.

Using well loved stories to teach children acting basics and beginning theatre, each day a new book will come to life through creative drama, movement activities, and arts and crafts.  Students will share their new skills with family and friends on the final day of camp.

Ahoy Matey! Campers will embark on a journey above and below the high seas as they create pirate and mermaid characters. It will be aargh-some week!

Audition Prep: 
Acting Intensive

5TH TO 9TH GRADE

June 27- July 1

This one week camp will focus on the students' individual process and confidence and help prepare them for acting and dance auditions. Students will work on picking up and performing choreography at auditions. Extra attention will be given to acting, including cold reading scenes, and ensuring students leave with a fully prepared monologue that they can confidently perform. The week will end with students ready for their next audition!

Fractured Fairy Tales

2ND TO 5TH GRADE

July 11-15

For a recipe of fun, add a dash of fantasy, a pinch of adventure, and sprinkle liberally with fairy dust for this magical journey into theatre. Ever wonder what would happen if Cinderella didn't find her prince, or if Jack decided not to climb the beanstalk? Things certainly would have turned out differently, wouldn't they? If you enjoy creating new twists and turns, you will love bringing creativity to the stage to make your very own fairy tale. We'll take elements of favorite stories, put them in a grab bag, and create our own mixed up fairy tale.

Discover Disney

2ND TO 5TH GRADE

The magic of Disney will be our inspiration this week! We will act out scenes from favorite Disney shows, movies, and musicals, and learn some dances to our favorite Disney songs! Scenes and songs will be staged and choreographed.

School is in session at the WTP School of Witchcraft and Wizardry this summer. Get sorted into houses and explore the magical world of acting by creating scenes inspired by J.K. Rowling's hit book series, "Harry Potter.” Dementors need not enroll.

Production Camps

Students will explore their creativity and expand their acting, singing, and dancing skills.  From audition preparation to Opening Night, all students will learn what it takes to produce a stage show. Each camp will conclude with three performances of a fully realized production on a stage professionally produced and open for the public. Space is limited, and registration is based on the order in which applications are received. Please contact us with any questions.

A typical day will involve:

  • Theatre arts classes in acting, character development, dance, voice, and improvisation

  • Production rehearsals, including group and individual coaching sessions with the director, musical director and choreographer   

Tuition includes:  Camp T-shirt and Official Script. 

A 50% deposit must be made after enrolling, via credit card or email in order to secure your spot. Full tuition must be paid by April 1st 2021. Need-based scholarships are available.  

  

All Production Camps meet Monday through Friday from 9am to 4pm. Performance dates and times are listed below.

Disney's Frozen, KIDS!

2ND TO 8TH GRADE

Join us for Disney's Frozen, KIDS, Based on the 2018 Broadway musical and the 2013 Disney film. This magical store brings Elsa, Anna, and the magical land of Arendelle to life, onstage. A story of true love and acceptance between sisters. When faced with danger, Princesses Anna and Elsa discover their hidden potential and the powerful bond of sisterhood. With a cast of beloved characters and loaded with magic, adventure, and plenty of humor, it is sure to thaw even the coldest heart!

Newsies

Join us as we carry the banner in Newsies, the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of teenaged "newsies." When titans of publishing raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions and fight for what's right! Based on the 1992 motion picture and inspired by a true story, Newsies features a Tony Award-winning score by Alan Menken and Jack Feldman and a book by Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein., and your favorite musical numbers like, “Carrying the Banner,” “Seize the Day,” and “Santa Fe."

Guys and Dolls

8TH TO 12TH GRADE

Join us for Guys and Dolls, a crowd pleasing musical featuring iconic songs "Luck Be a Lady Tonight" and "Bushel and a Peck", set in fantastical New York City in 1934. Gambler Nathan Detroit tries to find the cash to set up the biggest craps game in town while the authorities breathe down his neck; meanwhile, his girlfriend, nightclub performer Adelaide, laments that they've been engaged for 14 years. Nathan turns to fellow gambler Sky Masterson for the dough, but Sky ends up chasing the straight-laced missionary Sarah Brown. Guys And Dolls takes us from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana, Cuba, and even into the sewers of New York City, but eventually everyone ends up right where they belong.
